Martha and I traveled, extensively, through African wilderness, and were lucky to go on safari in the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. Tanzania, and especially the Serengeti, is known as the best place in the world to see wild animals and their migrations. I had heard this when I was on safari in the Masai Mara, Tsavo East, and Tsavo West in Nairobi in 1998. They were right. It was phenomenal! See my January 15, 2009 blog HERE for details of our adventures.

You go first….
Elephants, elephants, and more elephants

Happy wallowing in the mud!

Martha just lost her banana in front of our hut
Martha discovered that you never eat a banana around a monkey….
Elephants, elephants, and more elephants
Better watch out!
There is nothing smellier than a hippopotamas
They love to hang out in the mud!
I don’t know how they stand the smell!
One happy family
Real big fellas!
Typical road through the game park
What’s for supper?
Weeding near our cabin
What’s keeping Mom?
Early morning game ride. Now, where did those other two rascals go?
Baby hyenas
Wildebeest migration
Not a comforting sign. It’s fresh! Hey, let’s get out of here…there are elephants!
Fortunately, they ran away….
Exquisite lodges in the Serengeti
Looking for their babies
Tea time in Tanzania
Now that’s one big anthill! Or is it termites?
What are YOU looking at?
Some lioness’s are hard to find!
Not my idea of beauty
A monkey is trying to get into our car and freaking Martha out!
This always challenges me!
She finally found them!
Who could ask for anything more?
The cubs were in the trees
You talkin’ to me?
You notice they’re on the other side of the river….
So solitary and so grand
